Football weekend 20 May

Our picks of where to catch a top game this weekend!

LOTTO NRFL

Women’s Premiership

Second place Eastern Suburbs face a tricky trip to the Tron to take on Hamilton Wanderers, while in Auckland, the pick is Ellerslie’s visit to Hibiscus Coast, the first time these teams have met since 2019. All games happen at 1pm Sunday.

Women’s Championship

A full round at 1pm Sunday, we recommend heading along to Waikaraka Park for 3 v 4 in Onehunga v Otumoetai, it’ll be a goody.  Elsewhere, Central United host Tauranga City, with the hosts wanting a win to stay in touch with the leaders.

Men’s Championship

The story of this season so far is the promoted teams Hibiscus Coast and Ngaruawahia United looking right at home, sitting second and fourth respectively – the game to watch this weekend is Coast hosting fifth place Ellerslie at Stanmore Bay on Saturday at 3pm, the visitors have the joint highest top scorer Tom Durkin in the line up, this should be a cracking game. Elsewhere, Waiheke’s visit to North Shore United, just a short stroll from the ferry terminal, should be a great time.

Men’s Northern Conference

Central United hosting Bucklands Beach at Kiwitea Street is 1 v 3, and could help decide where the title lands. But the pick this week is the Westie Derby with Oratia hosting West Auckland at Parrs Park, get along, it’ll be tremendous.

NRF League One and Women’s Conference

All happening in the Conference this week, with second placed Metro hosting leaders Beachlands Maraetai at Phyllis Street at 1pm Sunday, and third place Greenhithe Mozamba hosting fourth place Birkenhead at Rosedale Park – this will sort a few things out.

In League One, the pick is 1v 2 with South Auckland Rangers hosting Te Atatu at Rongomai Park at 3pm Saturday. Phew!

Northern League

In Auckland, we’d recommend promoted West Coast Rangers hosting leaders Eastern Suburbs at Fred Taylor Park at 3pm Saturday, while Melville United taking on Auckland United at Gower Park under lights at 5.30pm will be a cracker – get along.
