Girls and Women's Football

The growth of girls and women's football and futsal is a key focus of Northern Region Football
We have a committed and driven team
ready to support endeavours to grow girls and women in football and futsal

We want to develop depth in the women’s game by providing more opportunities for young girls to play football.
Our approach focuses on reducing barriers to getting involved by offering girls-only junior football, and opportunities to play in summer, to bring new girls into our game.
This tailor-made pathway aims to provide a high-quality experience which meets the needs of female players.
The goal is to increase participation and offer environments that allow every player the chance to reach her true potential.

GIRLS AND WOMEN'S MONTH

Girls and Women’s Month is an initiative by New Zealand Football run alongside federations through the month of March. Designed to introduce girls and women to the beautiful game across Aotearoa New Zealand. With the recent impact of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, now is the time to keep that momentum going.

Girls & Women’s Month was established to shine the spotlight on girls and women in football and grow female participation at the grassroots level. Girls & Women’s month provides football stakeholders with a platform to spark discussions around gender equality and to amplify new and existing female-specific programs and events to ensure we remove the barriers to entry for women and girls. Initiatives designed to ensure they increase and retain female players, administrators, coaches, referees and fans.
