Northern Region Football is excited to be able to offer Futsal as structured leagues by region in Auckland to represent the sports tremendous growth and popularity over the past few years in the Secondary School sports landscape. Futsal is one of the fastest growing sports in Secondary School aged participants in New Zealand. In 2016, Futsal had over 300% growth in Secondary School aged participation, and as of 2021 has risen to the 11th most participated sport for students of this age.

From October 2024 onwards, NRF has partnered with College Sport Auckland to deliver Futsal to Secondary Schools. If you would like to play in the College Sport Auckland Leagues, please reach out to your school.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

NZSS Tournament Week 2025

​​​​​​​Senior Championship - Akau Tangi Sports Centre, Wellington

This is the premier level of futsal secondary schools held for Senior Boys and Senior Girls.

Due to grades not reaching capacity in 2023, all teams that participated in 2023 will have the option of attending in 2024 if they wish alongside the top three placed teams from the 2023 Northern Regional Cup. If remaining spaces are available, other schools will be able to register until capacity is reached.

Competition Dates:

• Senior Girls: Monday 24th March - Wednesday 26th March
• Senior Boys: Wednesday 26th March - Friday 28th March

Entry Criteria

• Schools that participated in 2024 competition and finished in the top twenty-eight (28) placed teams will be invited to 2025 competition via NZF Communications.
• The top two (2) placed teams from Northern Regional Cup and Southern Regional Cup
• If there is still available entries, it will be on a first in basis
• Entry Fee: $695.00 + GST

Junior Cup - Akau Tangi Sports Centre, Wellington

This is a competitive level of futsal held for Junior Boys and Junior Girls (Year 9 & 10).

Competition Dates:

• Junior Girls: Monday 24th March - Wednesday 26th March
• Junior Boys: Wednesday 26th March - Friday 28th March

Entry Criteria

• Open entry to all interested schools. Limited entries available (24 teams)
• Entry Fee: $695.00 + GST

Northern Regional Cup - Mercury Arena, Tauranga

This is a satellite tournament that creates a pathway to the Championship event. It has an increased development focus, perfect for schools that are more local or newer to futsal. Grades include Junior Boys, Junior Girls, Senior Boys and Senior Girls

Competition Dates:

• Wednesday 26th March - Friday 28th March

Entry Criteria

• Open entry to all interested schools. Limited entries available (16 teams per grade)
• Schools that enter Championships can also enter additional teams into the Regional Cup​​​​​​​
