LIFE MEMBERSHIP VOTING CRITERIA 2025
Life Membership is the highest Award available to recognise the exceptional contribution of individuals to the game in the Northern Region Football (and any preceding entity) Federation (“NRF”). It is therefore only awarded in exceptional circumstances.
In considering the award of Life Membership an individual should have demonstrated significant and sustained service enhancing the quality of the game, not only within their own Club, but also in our Region, and leaving a noteworthy legacy.
PROCESS FOR ASSESSING APPLICATIONS
- Nominations for Life Membership will be considered at the next NRF Annual General Meeting (AGM), which are announced in accordance with our constitution.
- The Board may nominate a Service Committee of current Life Members to review nominations.
- Life Members shall be elected on (and may be removed by) the majority vote of those present and entitled to vote at an AGM.
- Under special circumstances a Life Membership may be considered outside of an AGM at the discretion of the Board of NRF.
- Any Member may propose another Member as a Life Member and must forward a brief account of the candidate’s service and/or contribution to the Board or CEO not later than forty (40) days (or such later date as the Board may allow) before the date for holding the AGM at which the nomination is to be considered. The Board may, in its absolute discretion, decide whether or not to recommend the election to the AGM. If recommended, the nomination should be forwarded to Clubs no later than twenty-eight (28) days prior to the AGM (or such later date as the Board may allow).
- Any application which is not successful in obtaining the Board’s approval shall be treated by the Board of Management in the strictest confidence. Unsuccessful nominations may be resubmitted to the Board for their consideration again after a period of two years.
The qualities expected for NRF life member eligibility include:
- Dedication to football and / or futsal in Northland and / or Auckland
- A determination and ability to lead positive change with integrity
- Commitment to sportsmanship
- Being a role model in our game
- A strong advocate for fairness, equality and equity throughout the game
In short, we expect an NRF life member to have left the game in a better place than they found it.
BENEFITS OF LIFE MEMBERSHIP
In addition to the status of membership of a select group within the Federation, Life Membership will be recognised by:
- Award of Life Membership at the AGM or other appropriate occasion.
- Listing in the Annual Report and on the NRF website.
- A story through media of the Life Member’s achievements and contributions to the game.
- Invitation to Federation functions.
