NRF is partnering with Auckland City to send U15 and U19 girls and boys' teams to the 2024 Youth Futsal Championships, which are happening at Ākau Tangi Sports Centre in Wellington from 7-10 December.
Both U19 teams have experience on their side with a number of players representing the club and federation since the partnership was established. Bella Cranefield, Penny Brill and Sydney Sparks will make their fourth appearance at the tournament, while Alyssa Wong, Liam Buyck and Dylan Winstanley make their third appearances.
“To have Bella, Penny and Sydney reach four tournaments representing us is an exciting milestone and it has been great to see their development over years. They have all experienced the highs and heartbreaks of tournament futsal and I am sure will be motivated to finish with a high,” said Nic Downes.
Dominic Hawkins, Dylan Winstanley, Freddie Gibbins, Max Breingan and Ryan Revill have also all gained Super League experience with Auckland City x NRF.
“An aim for the program is to give these players a good foundation of technical skills and tactical knowledge that will allow them to transition easily into Super league teams. To have a number of boys already make appearances in the super league is really pleasing,” said Dylan Manickum.
