Well, this isn’t the start we wanted.

24 hours of heavy rain across Tāmaki Makaurau with more forecast means Auckland Council have restricted grass fields to 1.5 hours use a day.

The reality is, if we damage the fields now we could lose them for longer later in the season. Remember, even if it’s sunny over the weekend,  sodden fields are easily damaged - these tough decisions benefit everyone in the long run. Our wet weather FAQ is here. 

Weekend cancellations

• All club in-house football – cancelled
• All NRF junior football 9 – 12 grades – cancelled
• All NRF community youth football – cancelled
• All NRF community senior mens and womens football below League One – postponed

Please check your competitions on our website for confirmation - fixtures going ahead will be updated on nrf.org.nz no later than 4pm Friday.

Northland competitions start 3 May - let’s hope the weather is more settled by then.  

Fixtures and wet weather
A couple of points to note about football fxture confirmations throughout the season: 

• We’ll announce that fixtures are confirmed on our Facebook page every Friday at 4pm
• Check your match on nrf.org.nz for late changes before travelling
• Please note - even if council websites say grounds are closed, NRF’s fixtures are correct, as we control allocated grounds over the weekend
• We will follow this wet weather cancellation process if needed
